Eggnog Coffee: Why You’ll Love It

Eggnog coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a festive experience in a mug. The creamy, spiced flavor of the eggnog pairs perfectly with the deep, rich taste of coffee, creating a beverage that’s both comforting and invigorating. It’s the perfect way to start a chilly winter morning or to enjoy it as an afternoon treat while you decorate the tree or wrap gifts.

This recipe is also incredibly versatile. Whether you enjoy it with a little extra sweetness or prefer the natural richness of the eggnog, you can easily adjust the sweetness to suit your taste. If you’re looking for something even sweeter and more indulgent, try my Eggnog Espresso recipe. It’s a bolder, sweeter twist on the classic, perfect for those who love rich and decadent coffee drinks.

And if you’re feeling extra indulgent, you can top your eggnog coffee with a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg for a truly decadent holiday treat.

So, why not add a little holiday magic to your coffee routine this season?

This eggnog coffee is sure to become a new favorite, bringing the warmth and joy of the holidays into every sip. Whether you’re sipping it by the fire or sharing it with loved ones, it’s the perfect way to embrace the festive spirit.

Eggnog Coffee Recipe

Ingredients:

– 1 cup of freshly brewed hot coffee

– 1/2 cup eggnog (store-bought or homemade)

– 1-2 tablespoons sugar (optional, depending on your preference and the sweetness of the eggnog)

– 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions:

1. Brew the Coffee: Start by brewing a strong cup of your favorite coffee. A robust blend will complement the richness of the eggnog, ensuring that neither flavor overwhelms the other. I suggest something like the Abstract Blend from Tapestry.

2. Warm the Eggnog: In a small saucepan, heat the eggnog over low heat until it’s hot but not boiling. Stir continuously to prevent the eggnog from curdling—this step is crucial to maintaining that creamy texture we all love.

*Note: You can microwave the eggnog, but watch it to make sure it doesn’t boil over.

3. Sweeten to Taste: If you prefer your coffee on the sweeter side, add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar (or your preferred sweetener, like honey) to the hot eggnog. Stir well until the sweetener is fully dissolved. Remember, some eggnogs are already quite sweet, so adjust according to your taste.

*Note: I don’t add sugar when I make this myself because I like the taste of eggnog. If eggnog isn’t your favorite, adding a sweetener like sugar might help!

4. Combine Coffee and Eggnog: Pour the freshly brewed coffee into a mug, then slowly pour the warmed eggnog over the coffee. Stir gently to combine the flavors, allowing the richness of the eggnog to meld with the bold coffee.

5. Add a Sprinkle of Nutmeg: Finish off your eggnog coffee with a sprinkle of ground nutmeg. This adds a warm, spicy note that beautifully complements the creamy eggnog and robust coffee.

Eggnog coffee is a simple yet indulgent way to embrace the warmth and flavors of the holiday season.

Whether you’re curled up with a good book, enjoying a quiet morning before the festivities begin, or hosting a holiday brunch, this festive blend brings the comforting taste of the holidays right into your cup.

The combination of rich eggnog, bold coffee, and a hint of nutmeg is sure to become a seasonal favorite, offering a delicious reminder of the joy and warmth that this time of year brings. Here’s to savoring the season, one cozy cup at a time!
